Gary has successfully helped clients from many walks of life, them make significant improvements to their future, to their life, from the Millionaire Mind Program, to dealing with many stress related issues that can cause self defeating thought and behaviour patterns.

At Phoenix we use various Hypnotic techniques learned over many years, to help you change the way your mind processes the information and stimulus that cause your problem, for a more desirable and positive outcome. We will help you achieve, and in may cases, exceed your goals, increase confidence, improve your self esteem, and help you collapse patterns of self defeating thought and behaviour.

Our Clients are often amazed at the speed of their progress, generally in, only, half a dozen sessions with follow ups offered if further support required.

Many clients seeking our proffessional, confidential services at Phoenix, have questions about hypnotherapy and the process of positive change, some are left confused by hypnosis they may have seen on TV or stage, read about in self help books or information released by health care organisations who generalise about a subject they have no hands on experience of.

Further Information

I was born in North London, I had a rather negative time at school and left with no qualifications, in fact, the teachers implied I would amount to nothing however, even with my back against the wall I did ok, I was always promoted to a management positions very quickly at most of the places I worked but I never felt worthy so I would sabotage the job or just leave and start again somewhere else. After a period of getting in trouble I met my wife to be, at that time, and started to settle down but I never felt worthy of anything, almost being the martyr always helping others be successful even at my own cost and refusing gratitude. We worked hard and eventually owned our first home, had 2 sons and life was fairly good.

THEN I had an accident at work I was unable to return to my normal job, in fact, no job at all for that matter and the debts started to mount up and we lost the house with massive debt on the books. We moved into my mum and dad’s backroom with all our goods in boxes while we tried to decide our next move. It became clear that my injury was now compounded by the onset of depression which, seemed to creep up on me un-noticed and I suddenly found myself in a very dark place. There seemed to be very little sympathy for my situation, no one seemed to understand the dark and isolated place depression takes you too, pull yourself together, I was constantly told, we all have problems and down days, this was so helpful (not).

We decided that I should take on the roll as home maker, raising my 2 boys and keeping the home while my wife continued with her career and kept us all going. As time went on my identity was stating to slip away and I was struggling to find the motivation to shave, wash or dress and my roll in the home was considered by many (including extended family and friends) to be that of a scrounger and a layabout and my wife was being advised to leave me, by well meaning friends and family, and all the time my stress levels went up and my general pain, weight and depression increased until I was told that I had experienced a silent heart attack (somewhere along the way).

My days were spent comfort and boredom eating and wallowing over my situation, missed chances, my disability and my crap life and future. Before I knew it I had reached a grand weight of about 30 stone, I had lower spine degeneration and I had developed type 2 diabetes which, felt like it was the final nail in my coffin, I had had enough and I felt my family and the world would be better off without me. It was after nursing my father to his death, from cancer, age 62 that made me decide it was time to get my wife and my boys to a safe place as I thought my days were numbered.

We decided to move away from London to Dunster in Somerset which, had been a dream for many years. We realise life is short and to valuable to waste (this was to be proven once again in 2010 by the sudden death of my sister aged just 50 years old). we hoped this move would help me get better or I would a least bow out in a better place, and a safer place for my family. I eventually understood it was my responsibility to change my life and I needed to get the right help to do this so I started on the journey to recovery and FREEDOM, I wanted to get my life back on track, it was time and enough was enough,

"It was like I had to start all over again"
Change the way you see yourself
I wanted a better life for myself and my family, I wanted my boys to have their dad back, It was time to press on and fight back but this time I needed to be a new stronger me, I wanted my dignity back and I needed to lose weight, I wanted to build my recovery on foundations of concrete not sand this would be the big push and finally, I wanted a new life not my old one back.

My GP, offered various Pills, CBT and counselling but I am not a pill type person and counselling was not for me and keeping CBT forms was not something my mind had time for. I had already wasted to much time wallowing and I hate being asked about my feelings and being whispered at and being asked about my mum and dad, my potty training and breast feeding. I wanted a more dynamic, more empowering way of getting my life back on track because:

"Once I decided it was time to move, on there was no doubt in my mind that I would"

(After all, when you are in a snake pit you don’t ask how you got there you just want to get out quickly, then you can make sure you stay out).

It was becoming increasingly clear that I had been spending too much time mulling over the past looking for reasons and blame and trying to justify feeling the way I did (that’s what I was being told to do by well meaning people around me) I just wanted to move forwards focusing on tomorrow not yesterday. My Gp eventually, sent me to see an NLP Hypnotherapist / Life Change Coach and that was the first day of the rest of my life, the page turned on a new chapter. I started learning about my depression and why it happened but most of all, what I could do too live and cope with it going forward.

I had previously read some good self help books and listened to some mass market, generic hypnosis CDs which, were full of great theory but they could never have replace the skills of a good therapist who would get to know me as an individual helping me find solutions and keeping me focused on my goals and occasionally challenge me. I learned how to better cope with my new disability and the new life situation which in the beginning had knocked my confidence so badly. Looking back I can see that the very thought of making these big changes was frightening and challenging however, no one could do this for me, they could offer the right sort of help for me, but ultimately it was up to me to do the work and I was getting the fight back inside me and my focus was growing.

I began working as a volunteer crisis line operator with "Mindline" which felt good as I felt I was giving something back to the community and I was becoming motivated to learn about the human condition so I started a part time course in counselling which seemed a good place to begin my journey. I realised that continuing my training as a counsellor was not the route for me I felt it was a little touchy feely and to slow, as I said - courses for horses and all that. We sold everything we owned that was not tied down and we invested it in my new future, (such faith shown by my wife and I was not going to let her down)

As I progressed with my recovery and my training we decided to take an even bigger gamble, we sold our family home in lovely Dunster and we moved to WSM where I was able to continue my training by attending a course at the South Wests largest hypnotherapy training school in Bristol. I gained the latest qualifications for professional hypnotherapists in the UK, the HPD (Hypnotherapy Practitioner Diploma) - DHP (Diploma SF Hypnotherapy and SF Psychotherapy) qualification which, qualified me as a modern Solution focused clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist and carries an OU undergraduate level qualification and Now I have finally achieved my qualification as a Master Hypnotist amongst many other relevant qualifications such as CBT, Spiritual healing, weight loss hypnosis, PTSD Dip, Life coaching and much more and Phoenix Life Coaching & Hypnotherapy was born (and I have lost about 13 stone, up to now )
Will You change your life NOW ?
Nothing changes till you commit to your better future
And invest in yourself !

This was a costly journey both financially and mentally but the freedom and the results, getting my life back on track was worth every penny. I invested in my future and the ride has been life changing, I have done things, met people and achieved goals, WAY beyond my wildest dreams, I still remember being told by my senior lecturer, David Newton, at a time when I doubted myself and my skills, too, get a backbone and so I did. I am now registered with the, NCH, CNHC, GHR (Where I have just been awarded "Senior Practitioner" Status) and NHS directory, I am often asked to do talks (to anyone who will listen) about the mind and how it works and how hypnotherapy can helps us change our life quickly (but I don’t give away the special secrets )

Change your lifeThe reason for this story is not to bleat or gloat but, to show that I don’t work or speak from a privileged ivory tower quoting theory from books with a silver spoon hanging out of my mouth, I have walked the walk, talked the talk and experienced life’s challenges first hand and i have now committed my working life to help others change their life if they are ready to commit to themselves, their relationships and their Future.

Shout about your skillsHypnotherapy is not magic, it can just feels that way, especially at Phoenix, , its not what you see on TV where skilled hypnotists entertain an audience, hypnotherapy at Phoenix is a clinical Therapy for positive, fast, lasting change.
